Mom at the Home

Those of you who are keeping up with Mom through this blog, she is doing great. She has made friends with 2 other ladies at the home and they all sit on the couch together and sleep or watch TV. She tells me everytime I am there about her pals. One of the ladies names is Frances King, so mom can remember her name because it is the same first name as hers. Her eating is back to normal and she gained all the weight she had lost when she was sick.
Nelda Pearl called yesterday to say that she & Bob, Gale and Warren were coming down to see her this Friday, 13th of March. I know mom will really enjoy that. I'll try to take pictures and post them.
She has shared several times with me that she wishes she had a car. I ask her where she wanted to go and she said, "to pick up her kids from school." I gently reminded her that I was her youngest child and I am 56 years old. She replied, "So I don't have any kids in school?" I said No. Her reply was, "I guess it's a good thing that I couldn't find a car to go get them from school." She is such a joy and delight. Even today she still makes me laugh. What a blessing she is to me!!!!!!!

Mom's Visitor's

Last Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, Gale & Vicki Kimbrough came to see mama. I met them at the Nursing Home around 11:00 am and we visited and then took mom to lunch at the Dairy Queen and then went back to the Home and soon after, we all had to leave. For those of you who do not know Gale & Vicki, Gale is the only son of Christine, mama's sister. She knew the minute she saw their faces that they were people she knew, and smiled really big. Gale told her that they had not seen her in a long time and she said, "Shame on you!" We had a very good visit and it was one of mom's best days in a long time. She had remembered that Jr. had been to see her on the Sunday before. She usually can't remember anything that long. These days it dosen't take much to get me excited about how well mom is doing. She has gained back the weight she lost when she quit eating and her appetite is back to normal. She has made friends with 2ladies that sit with her in the front living area. She will tell you that they are all best buds. She does not know their names, but I have caught mom laying her head on one of the ladies shoulders on 2 occasions. We moved her the first of October to this Nursing Home and now 4 months later, I think she is finally adjusting and liking the place. Gale & Vicki took a couple of pictures and when they send them I will post them. In the mean time, here is one over the Christmas Holidays.

Tom & I

Not much time for us, since Mom has been so bad, but God truly keeps us close and deeply in love. We just finished our Church Cantata last Sunday and it was good. All the Christmas shopping is done. Tommy has been helping me cook goodies for different parties. I think he likes to cook. His Office Christmas party is this week and we are keeping Kevin and Alysia's kids Saturday so that they can go shopping. Life just seems so busy. I thought it would slow down when the kids all left home. What was I thinking??????????

Mom 12-16-08

Mom just got out of the hospital Monday, Dec. 15th. She went in on the 11th, Thursday night. I went to see her and she looked really bad. They checked her BP and it was 84/40. There were several things going on but they all have to do with her not eating. On Monday she looked so much better and talking and smiling and drinking ensure. I hope the medication they are giving her will kick in and work soon so she will start eating again. From the test they took on her, she has had a heart attack in the past year. She showed no signs of chest pain, but mom never complains.

Frances Day

Mom is really going through a hard time right now. Ever since Nov. 21st she has not been eating. She is drinking some, but not enough. The nurses and staff at the Nursing Home are really worried about her. They have tried everything they know to get her to eat, but she refuses and gets upset with them. She takes her medicines OK with no problem, just not food. Yesterday she was really tired and weak. Today they are starting her on an appetite stimulant, but it could take a week to a month to start working. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks, Peggy
